SG Helmets Response to NFL Ratings

SG Helmets Response to NFL Ratings

Brownsburg, Indiana:  SG helmets, which are 5 STAR rated through testing by Virginia Tech University and are NOCSAE and SEI certified in 2018, continue to be safe to wear and use. There is no need for concern as SG Helmet models for collegiate, high school and youth football have been tested and proved to be effective, protective and safe.  The results of the recent NFL study, as the NFL announced, should not be extrapolated to collegiate, high school or youth football helmets. The NFL study listed SG Varsity and 2.0 models on its “prohibited helmets” list not because of any performance deficiencies but, rather, because SG stopped manufacturing those models and also because SG didn’t have any NFL players who wore the helmet last year.

SG Helmets has always performed and ranked better in testing and in use than our competitors. Indeed, based upon SG’s independent test results and ratings, past and present, SG places players safety at the core of its mission. The protective qualities of SG helmets are well known and are safe to be worn at all levels, including the NFL: a fact proven by the now “banned” models having been previously worn in the NFL with no reported concussions or injuries. Can the same be said about our competitors?

I understand that no helmet, practice apparatus, or helmet pad can completely prevent or eliminate the risk of concussions or other serious head injuries while playing sports. Researchers have not reached an agreement on how the results of impact absorption tests relate to concussions. No conclusions about a reduction of risk or severity of concussive injury should be drawn from impact absorption tests.  By entering this site, you acknowledge this statement.
